Tractor manufacturer TYM Tractors creates an eco-friendly transmission oil for compact tractors

With the development of eco-friendly oil products, TYM tractors is raising expectations in the industry. The TYM Corporation announced on October 13th that it has developed Bio THF 400, a bio-based transmission oil for agricultural machinery that is eco-friendly and biodegradable.

As part of its ESG (environmental, social, and governance) management activities, TYM compact tractors has focused on developing sustainable products. Collaboration with GS Caltex resulted in the creation of a product that contains 65% bio-based components. According to the Bio Preferred Program, Bio THF 400 is a bio-based product certified by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). In order to increase exports to the US, US federal agencies require this certification for products they purchase.

As a result of the use of SynNova Sustainable Synthetic Base Oil (SSBO) in Bio THF 400, CO2 emissions are reduced. Oil made from legumes, coconuts, rapeseed, and palm is high-quality and made from renewable sources. It is highly biodegradable and contributes to fuel efficiency and minimizing carbon emissions as well as increasing the efficiency of the transmission.

Bio THF 400 maintains a low viscosity at low temperatures, which enhances performance when starting cold engines. Viscosity is maintained even at high temperatures, and improved Anti-Foam performance minimizes friction and wear of transmission gears. Increased heat capacity and heat transfer efficiency enable Bio THF 400 to maintain optimal transmission operating conditions.

Originally established under the 2002 Farm Bill, the USDA's BioPreferred Program has required federal agencies to comply with bio-product standards on purchases since 2014. As of now, only 5,000 products from around the world meet these strict standards. As long as the product meets the requirements set by the BioPreferred program, foreign companies with certified products can secure more export opportunities to the U.S.

A TYM official stated, "This year is the beginning of our efforts to develop environmentally friendly agricultural machinery after becoming the first company in the industry to declare ESG management in February last year. Our efforts have included developing new products as well as securing eco-friendly technologies for our production facilities and parts as part of these efforts." Continuing to develop sustainable products and technologies will help us accelerate ESG management."
