In the new 'Ranger Stories: Driving Change' initiative, Polaris Off Road continues its Ranger Stories video series.
In Polaris' view, a product lives through its applications, partnerships, and most importantly, through its users, which is why the company has once again embarked on a journey across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. It is Polaris' goal to discover and capture how its customers are driving change along with the Polaris RANGER for sale. Ranger Stories: Driving Change is an inspiring collection of stories inspired by Polaris customers who are working hard to positively impact the world alongside the Polaris RANGER. It's like a chef creating a dish - every ingredient is carefully selected and crafted together in a way that highlights their individual contributions and creates something amazing. In this case, the stories are the ingredients and the outcome is an inspiring collection of stories that show how Polaris customers are making a positive difference in their communities.
The Lac Blanc Bike Park in Alsace, France is featured in episode 2 of this series
In winter, Lac Blanc has been a popular ski resort for over 50 years, welcoming skiers and snowboarders from all over the world. By summer, the snow had melted and hikers were left to explore Lac Blanc's natural surroundings. Thus, Lac Blanc opened its Bike Park in 2007 to capitalize on the quiet summer months and attract new audiences. It's no surprise that Lac Blanc Bike Park is as busy during the summer months as during the winter months as downhill mountain biking is growing in popularity. Downhill mountain biking provides fast-paced, adrenaline-pumping challenges against a backdrop of beautiful, natural landscapes.
Located in Alsace, France, the bike park offers nine different downhill mountain bike routes ranging in difficulty and technicality. There is something for everyone at Lac Blanc Bike Park, whether it is families with young children or serious World Cup competitors that are training on the black line.
The Polaris Ranger will be featured in the ‘Driving Change’ spin-off series with the Lac Blanc Bike Park's Site Development Director, Michael Barthelme. In this episode, the Polaris Ranger will be used to observe and hear how the Polaris Ranger manages a resort of this size, while balancing trail maintenance with rider safety and the extreme terrain that comes with such a mountainous environment.
There are more than 170 acres of land covered with trails that snake through and through forests on Lac Blanc's 170 acres of land. It is true that the riders and their bikes can navigate using the chair lift, but the safety team needs to be able to access every area of the site - every trail, every tree, and every corner - to ensure that they can be able to keep the trail clear and reach any injured riders.
In addition to providing the Lac Blanc team with the power and stability necessary to overcome these gradients quickly, the Ranger XP 1000 is also equipped with an on-demand all-wheel drive system, meaning that when the vehicle needs more traction, all four wheels automatically become engaged.
If a rider is injured and the team has to navigate tight trails within the forest due to an accident, thanks to the Ranger's tight turning radius and 33cm ground clearance, the team is capable of navigating over rocks and tree roots. A comfortable cab holds up to three people in case the rider needs to be transported to a safer or more comfortable location while the suspension travel is a smooth 27.9cm at the front and rear to ensure a smooth ride for the rider. A 454kg capacity cargo bed can easily handle the weight and size of a mountain bike if it needs to be transported with the rider as well as the safety team's essential equipment, such as medical bags and maintenance tools, if the bike must be transported with the rider.
There are plenty of uses for the Ranger XP 1000 in the winter months as well, when Lac Blanc Bike Park closes its doors for the winter and Lac Blanc Ski Resort opens its doors. During the winter months, the Ranger is converted into an ultimate snow vehicle as the tyres are replaced with tyre tracks, making it the ski resort's ultimate snow vehicle.
It is also important to note that the Lac Blanc Bike Park team also added additional accessories to the Ranger XP 1000, including a full cab kit, which included a full door, windshield, rear panel, and roof, as well as an in-cab heater for comfort and convenience in the winter months. Also included on this model is a LED light bar that can be used during low light conditions, a winch that can be used for assisting with the movement of fallen trees or for carrying heavy equipment when climbing extreme hills, and not to mention the Polaris Lock&Ride tip-down headache rack on the cargo bed for carrying heavy equipment safely.
